He has just completed A-Levels at Loreto College in History, English Literature and Government & Politics. He is an ambassador of His Majesty’s #iWill Campaign and has been awarded The Diana Award as well as a National Democracy Award from the UK Government for his work. He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 5Live’s Question Time Extra Time and also advised schools and corporations on how to improve their outreach to young people.[/et_pb_team_member][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”3.26″][et_pb_team_member name=”Ben Fleming” position=”Chief Operating Officer ” image_url=”/content/images/wordpress/2019/07/Ben-Fleming-.jpg” twitter_url=”@bdafleming” _builder_version=”3.26″ body_font_size=”15px” body_line_height=”1.5em” border_radii_image=”on|300px|300px|300px|300px”]Ben has been with YouthPolitics since 2017, working originally as Head of Events to organise our inaugural conference, before becoming COO and Head of YouthPolitics Edinburgh. Ben is currently a student of History and Politics at the University of Edinburgh. A passionate advocate of social reform, democracy and equality, Ben has been active in politics since 2015, both as a member of the Labour Party and a Brexiteer. He is Vice-President of the Edinburgh Political Union committee and host of ‘The Backbench’ political radio show. In his spare time, Ben also loves acting, writing and playing football.

She has been interested in politics since she was 13, after following the 2015 General Election. She is currently a political activist, particularly passionate about feminism, the environment and youth engagement into politics. YouthPolitics allows her to play a role in making politics more accessible for young people. After attending YPUK’s first conference, she was inspired to apply for the position of Head of Events. Now, as a member of YouthPolitics she aspires to recreate the experience by organising the next conference, and inspire even more young people to get their voices heard on a political platform.

She remains on the Executive Committee as an advisory member. Jess is a lover of literature and language, and a ‘happy feminist’. She enjoyed schools debating and is now competing and judging at university level. Debate and discussion are really important to her, and she’s passionate about getting young people heard and opening up the discourse, in politics and activism, to a much wider range of voices.

Through YPUK he hopes to encourage engagement of young people to facilitate this. In addition to debating throughout his time in sixth-form, Abel has completed work experience in the Home Office, which inspired him to get more involved with politics. He also received the Ernst & Young ‘Young Person of the Year Award’ in 2017.

He manages all the activities and the overall presence of YouthPolitics in London which includes setting up events and campaigns specifically for the London area. As the city that first welcomed his parents, Sarmed has always felt a close personal connection with London. He adores its cosmopolitan and diverse nature but also its tight knit communities outside of the city. Sarmed looks forward to helping his city grow to an even greater level with its youth engagement.

He has also gained a place to study music with an organ scholarship at Hertford College, Oxford University. Will is a keen musician, as well as having a huge interest in politics. As Head of Finance at YouthPolitics UK since September 2018, Will has combined his interest in finance and politics, which he finds beneficial both on an academic and a personal level. Will is also into sports, playing football most weeks.
